Lightening up the participant onboarding process



THE CHALLENGE

Fidelity was looking for a refresh of their general-use participant onboarding video education for navigating/understanding employer awards on their platform. They wanted something that would be informative while being plan-agnostic, and professional without looking and feeling like an impersonal presentation. With the reality that online user experiences are in a constant state of revision, they also looked to us for how to create something that could withstand the inevitable ongoing platform tweaks they saw ahead.

THE SOLUTION

Their new video included three key components: animated characters woven throughout to add a human element, the injection of a little signature UPTICK humor, and what we call 'impressionist' screen depictions that strip away any non-essential visual details and make scenes more evergreen.

THE RESULTS

After rolling out the new, more engaging/casual format, plan sponsor engagement stats showed increased engagement across the board, with an average increase in video completion rate among participants of >70%, versus the more conventional legacy overview video. The video was also credited with significantly contributing to improved employee benefits satisfaction ratings at numerous company plans.
